Raise My Flag
Lyrics
Raise My Flag
Verse 1
Your compromises do not work for me
Your planned escape does not make you free
A thought does not plant its own seed
Lay down and watch while others feed
Pre-Chorus
Where does logic lay
When passion’s all you taste
Beyond your embrace
In your face
Chorus
I’ll raise my flag
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I’ll raise my flag
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I’ll raise my –
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da
I’ll raise my –
Verse 2
Arrogants and debutantes can’t see
Beyond what they deem “need to be”
Actions without words are dead, you see
Yet there’s consequence for words spoken free
Pre-Chorus
Where does logic lay
When passion’s all you taste
Beyond your embrace
In your face
Chorus
I’ll raise my flag
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I’ll raise my flag
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I’ll raise my –
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da
I’ll raise my –
Bridge
Is what you believe
So weak you can’t speak
Or are your decisions determined by quantity
Of that you see, blindly
Final Chorus
I’ll raise my flag
All alone
I’ll raise my flag
This my poem
I’ll raise my flag
Throw a stone
I’ll raise my –
Artist’s Statement
Raise My Flag is about resisting the pressure to dilute yourself for the comfort or approval of others. The flag becomes a symbol of self-definition: a willingness to stand visibly and independently, even when doing so means standing alone. The song also questions how easily conviction can be shaped by consensus – by the sheer quantity of what we see and hear – rather than by what we genuinely believe.
