Artist’s Statement#

Overall, I view art as a voyage. I think that most artists work changes over time; mine is not an exception. I have been working in a style I call “Suburban Primitive” for over twenty years. This style combines my interest in the origins and functions of art along with life in the suburbs. Over the years, I have increasingly become interested in the use of patterning and compositional arrangements in non-Western cultures, especially early ones. This, coupled with an increased interest in the use of symbology, may be affecting the physical appearance of my work; although, to be honest, I couldn’t tell you exactly how it has manifested at this time. Guess the only thing I can say is that time will tell!

About the Artist#

Ronald Walker holds both a MFA and a MA in painting and drawing. His work has been shown in over fifty solo exhibits. He lives in Sacramento, California.
