Island Silences No. 1

Island Silences No. 1 by Francesco Capasso

Artist’s Statement

This image was created on the islands of Ischia, Capri, and Procida. Poised between reality and possibility, the work reflects on the reasons individuals are drawn to islands as places of refuge from metropolitan frenzy and daily turmoil. Through the encounter between natural forms and local architecture, the image suggests a quiet suspension, where the human presence dissolves into the landscape, allowing silence to emerge as a shared condition.

Artist’s Statement

This photograph continues the exploration of insularity as both a physical and mental space. Within the stillness of the island environment, the landscape becomes a threshold, neither entirely real nor imagined, where time slows and perception shifts. The work investigates the subtle interconnection between human beings and place, emphasizing the island as a space of withdrawal, contemplation, and emotional balance.
