D. W. Baker

Colony Collapse

My son is watching

animation from
the last century:

Winnie-the-Pooh’s escapades,
mostly concerning honey.

Many scenes feature bees;
pestilential antagonists,
plentiful as weeds –
inconsequential comic
relief.

The anachronism
is already
a(p)parent.

Inconsequential concern
-ing leaves the last century
in relief,
barren
of animation.

My son is watching.
