Artist’s Statement
I create atmospheric self-portraits with an air of magical realism, often fusing photography, painting, and photo manipulation to explore self-representation as an act of reclaiming ownership of personal expression, as well as examining our relationship with the natural world. My work is introspective, and I always take a slow and considered approach β I will physically dive into a lake with handmade wings on my back, or craft props to use, or shoot through glass and other surfaces; I enjoy the effort involved in this process, and the unpredictability of the results.
