Artist’s Statement
This small piece, only the size of a postcard, was drawn under the influence of a documentary in the vicinity of the #MeToo debate. I was especially impressed with the showmaster saying “If society doesn’t intervene, it becomes an accomplice.” The title “Nichtwiderspruch ist Zustimmung,” or non-opposition equals agreement (a bureaucratic term used in entrepeneurship), is a cynical comment on the people who have profited from this tradition of abuse.
I used pencil and markers for the figure, rubber stamps for the text and then scratched out her eyes and voice with ballpoint pen, finally underpadding those scratches with red paper.
