Editor's Note 4/23

As a feather is wafted downward
From an eagle in his flight
The Day is Done, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
As a brick comes hurtling downward
From a rooftop, in a fight
Freddy and the Baseball Team from Mars, Walter R. Brooks

Welcome to our seventeenth and April issue! With this issue, we’re leaning into our literary roots with a number of pieces that incorporate sci-fi and fantasy references, elements of critical theory, and a bit of (somewhat obscure) absurdist humor, just for the sake of it.

And an update on our chapbook project: we’ve received dozens of manuscripts, far more than we expected, which is fantastic. We expect to start formal first pass reviews and make our initial decisions starting in May. For those who have submitted, thank you for your patience! The project is on track to do quite well.

For related news: Kate, one of our founding editors, recently launched Red Wolf Periodical as a new project in our group of zines and projects. Like Red Ogre Review, Red Wolf Periodical will focus on poetry and visual art. Be sure to check it out! The June issue is open for submissions, and I recommend sending something along to Kate if you think you might be interested.
