Ghost Water

Ghost Water by David A. Goodrum

About the Art

My artistic intent has always been to capture images that might instill in others - as they do for me as I makes them - a sense of calm and tranquility. I hope to create a visual field that momentarily transports you away from hectic daily events and into a place that delights in an intimate view of the world.

In the quickness of our modern lives, we often lose the small details as we step over them, look away, stare straight ahead, distract ourselves with devices, and so on. Instead, my photos are from experiences of pausing and contemplation. I am guided and inspired in the moment by the setting and the details of the object in view.

Spending a day in a large city recently, while I was walking my peripheral vision was caught by the sheeting water of an outdoor fountain across the street, and so I went over to watch how the light was reflected in ever-changing patterns. I used the camera I had in-hand, an iPhone 11 Pro, and used burst mode and live photo with the 2x lens to capture the water, later finding the one shot to share.
